Ardantane Mabon Celebration

September 25, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Ardantane will host at the Celtic harvest festival of Mabon on Friday, September 20, and people are invited to gather at 6:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place at the geodesic dome at Ardantane, a educational and retreat center located about seven miles south of Jemez Springs.

Mabon marks the fruit and vegetable harvest, and is known to many as “The Pagan Thanksgiving.” It follows the grain harvest of Lughnassad, and precedes the meat harvest and commemoration of ancestors at Samhain. The program will include music, singing, gratitude exercises, stories from mythology, and of course a potluck feast afterwards.

Though not all of us have a harvest from gardens or orchards, we can still celebrate our personal successes at home, at work, and in our arts, crafts, and hobbies. We will also discuss and celebrate the creative harvests of people worldwide who are taking bold action to address problems of hunger, disease, conflict, and other challenges.

Participants are urged to wear comfortable and festive clothing, and to being a potluck dish and/or beverage to share. There is no charge for the event, although donations are always welcome to defray expenses.

We gather at 6:30pm to mark the fall equinox. The celebration will begin around 7pm.  Bring a potluck dish to share afterwards, and call 505-469-7777 for directions.

In an effort to reduce Ardantane’s environmental impact, we ask that if you can, please bring your own feast gear: plate, bowl, cup, and flatware. This will reduce a lot of paper waste! Thank you!
